1 A Song of Ascents. They that trust in Hashem are as mount Tzion, which cannot be moved, but abideth for ever.
2 As the mountains are round about Yerushalayim, so Hashem is round about His people, from this time forth and for ever.
y’-ru-sha-LA-yim ha-REEM sa-VEEV lah va-do-NAI sa-VEEV l’-a-MO may-a-TAH v’-AD o-LAM
The Hebrew name for Jerusalem, ‘Yerushalayim’ (ירושלים), contains the word ‘shalom,’ peace. The root of ‘shalom’ is ‘shalem,’ meaning whole or complete. Why do people fight against others? Because they are not whole or at peace with themselves. Once one is able to make themselves whole, that they can find inner peace, and are more likely to live peacefully with others as well. Throughout history and until this very day, many people come to Jerusalem to find their own inner peace.
3 For the rod of wickedness shall not rest upon the lot of the righteous; that the righteous put not forth their hands unto iniquity.
4 Do good, O Hashem, unto the good, and to them that are upright in their hearts.
