1  A psalm for praise. Raise a shout for Hashem, all the earth;

miz-MOR l’-to-DAH ha-REE-u la-do-NAI kol ha-A-retz

א  מִזְמוֹר לְתוֹדָה הָרִיעוּ לַיהֹוָה כָּל־הָאָרֶץ׃

100:1   A psalm for praise

How does one express praise and thanksgiving to Hashem? This small psalm provides direction with its abundance of verbs: “Shout”, “serve”, “come”, “know”, “enter”, “thank”, and “bless”. It presents seven directives for man to be able to manifest his feelings of gratitude in actions, and teaches that if one experiences God’s grace somewhere in the land, he should rise up, sing His praise, let others see and hear his joy and, ultimately, come to the gates of the Beit Hamikdash to rejoice with others. Thanking God, blessing God and singing to God are all ways to convey feelings of gratitude to Him.

  • The question is asked, how does one express thanksgiving to The Lord. The answer is in so many ways. Daily ways. Not only of special Festival and Holy Days but on all days. We can thank, bless, shout, do mizvahs. Sorry I spelled it wrong…thus in this was serve. To just celebrate the joy in our hearts the love and happiness we have for the love of The Lord. Sometimes when alone, I am afraid my voice may scare the neighbors, i sing aloud and praise my song to God in thanks for all God has done for me and just express joy for all of creation. Just to say thank you Lord. Not to ask for anything, just to say thank you.

    Not being Jewish I have never been inside Temple or to a Sabbath Service. Not even sure a non-Jewish person is allowed. But I have this wish to be there to feel in my heart what I feel that I have been missing all my life as a non-Jewish personage. Yet I have always been drawn into that direct for what ever unknown reason as a child since as mention before since I had seen my first Temple Menorah in an Antique shoppe some 50 plus years ago and purchased it. I Knew inside it was something special to me and more important was something very sacred and so important to an entire race of God Children that someday I would grow to understand and Admire. Carl
