The Jewish People bring the Mishkan to Shilo. This is meant to be its temporary location, until the Beit Hamikdash would be built in Yerushalayim. The Mishkan remains in Shilo for 369 years, serving as the central point for Israelite service to Hashem during that period, as is evident in the opening chapters of Sefer Shmuel. Like many biblical cities, the site of ancient Shilo has been identified and excavated, and a new Jewish community with the same name has been established adjacent to it. Today, hundreds of Jewish families live in the flourishing town of Shilo.
