Did the Biblical Calendar Trigger Israel’s Return to Gaza?

Hamas leaders are dying. Terrorist infrastructure crumbles. The ceasefire has collapsed, and Israel’s military operations have intensified—all during the thirty days between Purim and Passover. Coincidence? Absolutely not. The God who parted the Red Sea still orchestrates world events according to His calendar, and His enemies should take note.

What spiritual significance lies behind the timing of Israel’s current military campaign against Hamas during these thirty days between Purim and Passover?

The answer lies in understanding what Jewish tradition calls biur chametz—the elimination of leaven. During these thirty days, Jews worldwide engage in the meticulous process of removing every speck of chametz (leavened bread) from their homes before Passover begins. This isn’t merely spring cleaning; it’s spiritual warfare encoded in ritual.

In Jewish tradition, chametz represents more than bread that has risen. The Hebrew word itself reveals its deeper meaning through its very letters. When we examine the spelling of chametz (חמץ) and matzah (מצה), we discover they share identical letters except for one: chametz contains the letter chet (ח) while matzah contains the letter hei (ה). Even more revealing, these two letters themselves differ by only the tiniest gap—the chet is completely enclosed, while the hei has a small opening on its left side. This teaches us a profound lesson: chametz represents the ego that has closed itself off from God’s influence, becoming self-contained and self-important. Meanwhile, matzah represents humility—remaining open to heaven’s direction rather than being filled with self-aggrandizement.

The Torah states directly:

God rejects chametz on His altar because it symbolizes ego inflation—human pride that has expanded beyond its proper boundaries.

Rabbi Eliyahu Dessler, the great 20th-century Jewish thinker, explains that chametz represents the yetzer hara (evil inclination) that causes a person to become puffed up with self-importance. Just as a tiny amount of yeast inflates an entire batch of dough, a small amount of ego can corrupt one’s entire spiritual life. The thirty days between Purim and Passover are divinely designated for eliminating this spiritual bloat.

What we witness today in Gaza represents this principle in action. Hamas terrorists embody chametz in its most dangerous form—inflated with murderous pride and taking up space that doesn’t belong to them. Just as we are commanded to search out and utterly destroy every particle of chametz before Passover, Israel must now completely eliminate Hamas from Gaza. There can be no compromise, no leftover crumbs, no hidden pockets remaining. When the Torah commands regarding chametz, “none shall be seen among you” (Exodus 13:7), it establishes the principle that evil must be thoroughly eradicated, not merely contained. The complete elimination of Hamas from Gaza is not just a military necessity—it’s the fulfillment of a biblical imperative.

King David understood this principle when he wrote:

The wicked may inflate themselves temporarily, but their collapse is inevitable when confronted with divine truth.

This thirty-day period carries three distinct phases of chametz elimination:

First, bedikat chametz—the search for leaven. With a candle, feather, and wooden spoon, Jews search every corner of their homes for hidden chametz. Similarly, Israel’s intelligence services have spent months identifying where Hamas hides among civilians. The Torah commands this thoroughness: “Seven days there shall be no leaven found in your houses” (Exodus 12:19). God requires complete elimination, not compromise.

Second, bitul chametz—the nullification of leaven. After the physical search, Jews verbally declare all undiscovered chametz to be “as dust of the earth.” This represents the legal nullification of evil’s claim on our territory. The annexation of land in Gaza represents a modern form of bitul chametz—nullifying Hamas’ illegitimate ownership of lands that God explicitly gave to Israel. The Torah clearly establishes this divine land grant:

Gaza is included in this biblical territory, and the process of bitul chametz reminds us that we must nullify all claims that contradict God’s eternal covenant.

Third, biur chametz—the burning of leaven. The morning before Passover, all discovered chametz is burned, completely destroying its physical existence. The prophet Obadiah foresaw this final stage when he wrote:

Evil must not merely be contained; it must be eliminated.

What’s happening in Gaza isn’t merely military strategy—it’s divine timing. The God who orchestrated the drowning of Pharaoh’s army has not retired from history. The prophet Isaiah declared: “Behold, the nations are as a drop in a bucket, and are counted as the small dust on the scales” (Isaiah 40:15). Nations that stand against God’s purposes will discover their true insignificance.

The imaginary ceasefire has collapsed. The inflated rhetoric of Israel’s enemies is being exposed for what it truly is—chametz that must be eliminated before redemption can come. The Bible’s message remains clear—just as we eliminate physical chametz from our homes, God eliminates spiritual chametz from His world. But understanding these principles isn’t enough. We must take decisive action.

The World Zionist Congress elections are underway at this very moment. These elections will directly determine whether Israel’s call for total victory against Hamas receives international support and backing from world Jewry.

Israel365 Action (Slate #7) stands firmly on biblical principles. This slate believes in the absolute necessity of destroying Hamas and removing radicalized elements from Gaza completely. Just as we eliminate every particle of chametz without compromise, Israel365 Action supports the complete elimination of terrorist infrastructure from Gaza. These positions aren’t radical – they’re the logical application of biblical truth.

The time for action is now. If you’re Jewish, your vote for Israel365 Action / Slate #7 is crucial. It costs just $5 to vote and only takes about 2 minutes of your time. Don’t wait – vote Slate #7 TODAY.

Non-Jewish supporters can join Ten from the Nations, a movement of biblical supporters of Israel who stand with the Jewish people in this critical hour. Together, we can ensure that the lessons of chametz elimination lead to righteous action in the present.

As we complete our Passover preparations by eliminating chametz, let us also eliminate compromise from our political stance. The God who commanded total victory over Amalek demands nothing less than total victory over Hamas. Those who stand against Israel will discover, to their eternal regret, that fighting against the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob is fighting a battle they cannot win.
