37:4 After it, He lets out a roar
In this verse, the majestic voice of God roars, proclaiming His justice and goodness to all creatures. The Divine voice is often described in the Bible as a roar, frequently as an expression of His anger. In ancient Israel, lions were commonly found in the forested areas of the country. The lion is therefore often used as a metaphor in the Bible. Though the lion’s roar is frightening, it serves as a warning to its prey that the lion is present, and clever prey can escape. So too, God communicates with His children to warn them to correct their ways before it is too late.
5Hashem thunders marvelously with His voice; He works wonders that we cannot understand.
