I - Chapter 6

1The sons of Levi: Gershom, Kehat, and Merari.

אבְּנֵי לֵוִי גֵּרְשֹׁם קְהָת וּמְרָרִי׃

2And these are the names of the sons of Gershom: Libni and Shim'i.

בוְאֵלֶּה שְׁמוֹת בְּנֵי־גֵרְשׁוֹם לִבְנִי וְשִׁמְעִי׃

3The sons of Kehat: Amram, Izhar, Chevron, and Uzziel.

גוּבְנֵי קְהָת עַמְרָם וְיִצְהָר וְחֶבְרוֹן וְעֻזִּיאֵל׃

4The sons of Merari: Mahli and Mushi. These were the families of the Leviim according to their clans.

דבְּנֵי מְרָרִי מַחְלִי וּמֻשִׁי וְאֵלֶּה מִשְׁפְּחוֹת הַלֵּוִי לַאֲבוֹתֵיהֶם׃

5Of Gershom: his son Libni, his son Jahath, his son Zimmah,

הלְגֵרְשׁוֹם לִבְנִי בְנוֹ יַחַת בְּנוֹ זִמָּה בְנוֹ׃

6his son Joah, his son Ido, his son Zerach, his son Jeatherai.

ויוֹאָח בְּנוֹ עִדּוֹ בְנוֹ זֶרַח בְּנוֹ יְאָתְרַי בְּנוֹ׃

7The sons of Kehat: his son Aminadav, his son Korach, his son Assir,

זבְּנֵי קְהָת עַמִּינָדָב בְּנוֹ קֹרַח בְּנוֹ אַסִּיר בְּנוֹ׃

8his son Elkana, his son Ebiasaph, his son Assir,

חאֶלְקָנָה בְנוֹ וְאֶבְיָסָף בְּנוֹ וְאַסִּיר בְּנוֹ׃

9his son Tahath, his son Uriel, his son Uzziyahu, and his son Shaul.

טתַּחַת בְּנוֹ אוּרִיאֵל בְּנוֹ עֻזִּיָּה בְנוֹ וְשָׁאוּל בְּנוֹ׃

10The sons of Elkana: Amasai and Ahimoth,

יוּבְנֵי אֶלְקָנָה עֲמָשַׂי וַאֲחִימוֹת׃

11his son Elkana, his son Zophai, his son Nahath,

יאאֶלְקָנָה בנו [בְּנֵי] אֶלְקָנָה צוֹפַי בְּנוֹ וְנַחַת בְּנוֹ׃

12his son Eliav, his son Jeroham, his son Elkana.

יבאֱלִיאָב בְּנוֹ יְרֹחָם בְּנוֹ אֶלְקָנָה בְנוֹ׃

13The sons of Shmuel: his first-born Vashni, and Aviya.

יגוּבְנֵי שְׁמוּאֵל הַבְּכֹר וַשְׁנִי וַאֲבִיָּה׃

14The sons of Merari: Mahli, his son Libni, his son Shim'i, his son Uzzah,

ידבְּנֵי מְרָרִי מַחְלִי לִבְנִי בְנוֹ שִׁמְעִי בְנוֹ עֻזָּה בְנוֹ׃

15his son Shimea, his son Haggiah, and his son Asaiah.

טושִׁמְעָא בְנוֹ חַגִּיָּה בְנוֹ עֲשָׂיָה בְנוֹ׃

16These were appointed by David to be in charge of song in the House of Hashem, from the time the Aron came to rest.

v'-AY-leh a-SHER he-e-MEED da-VEED al y'-day SHEER BAYT a-do-NAI mi-m'-NO-akh ha-a-RON

טזוְאֵלֶּה אֲשֶׁר הֶעֱמִיד דָּוִיד עַל־יְדֵי־שִׁיר בֵּית יְהֹוָה מִמְּנוֹחַ הָאָרוֹן׃

17They served at the Mishkan of the Tent of Meeting with song until Shlomo built the House of Hashem in Yerushalayim; and they carried out their duties as prescribed for them.

יזוַיִּהְיוּ מְשָׁרְתִים לִפְנֵי מִשְׁכַּן אֹהֶל־מוֹעֵד בַּשִּׁיר עַד־בְּנוֹת שְׁלֹמֹה אֶת־בֵּית יְהֹוָה בִּירוּשָׁלָ ִם וַיַּעַמְדוּ כְמִשְׁפָּטָם עַל־עֲבוֹדָתָם׃

18Those were the appointed men; and their sons were: the Kohathites: Hayman the singer, son of Yoel son of Shmuel

יחוְאֵלֶּה הָעֹמְדִים וּבְנֵיהֶם מִבְּנֵי הַקְּהָתִי הֵימָן הַמְשׁוֹרֵר בֶּן־יוֹאֵל בֶּן־שְׁמוּאֵל׃

19son of Elkana son of Jeroham son of Eliel son of Toah

יטבֶּן־אֶלְקָנָה בֶּן־יְרֹחָם בֶּן־אֱלִיאֵל בֶּן־תּוֹחַ׃

20son of Zuph son of Elkana son of Mahath son of Amasai

כבֶּן־ציף [צוּף] בֶּן־אֶלְקָנָה בֶּן־מַחַת בֶּן־עֲמָשָׂי׃

21son of Elkana son of Yoel son of Azarya son of Tzefanya

כאבֶּן־אֶלְקָנָה בֶּן־יוֹאֵל בֶּן־עֲזַרְיָה בֶּן־צְפַנְיָה׃

22son of Tahath son of Assir son of Ebiasaph son of Korach

כבבֶּן־תַּחַת בֶּן־אַסִּיר בֶּן־אֶבְיָסָף בֶּן־קֹרַח׃

23son of Izhar son of Kehat son of Levi son of Yisrael;

כגבֶּן־יִצְהָר בֶּן־קְהָת בֶּן־לֵוִי בֶּן־יִשְׂרָאֵל׃

24and his kinsman Asaf, who stood on his right, namely, Asaf son of Berechya son of Shimea

כדוְאָחִיו אָסָף הָעֹמֵד עַל־יְמִינוֹ אָסָף בֶּן־בֶּרֶכְיָהוּ בֶּן־שִׁמְעָא׃

25son of Michael son of Baaseiah son of Malchijah

כהבֶּן־מִיכָאֵל בֶּן־בַּעֲשֵׂיָה בֶּן־מַלְכִּיָּה׃

26son of Ethni son of Zerach son of Adaiah

כובֶּן־אֶתְנִי בֶן־זֶרַח בֶּן־עֲדָיָה׃

27son of Ethan son of Zimmah son of Shim'i

כזבֶּן־אֵיתָן בֶּן־זִמָּה בֶּן־שִׁמְעִי׃

28son of Jahath son of Gershom son of Levi.

כחבֶּן־יַחַת בֶּן־גֵּרְשֹׁם בֶּן־לֵוִי׃

29On the left were their kinsmen: the sons of Merari: Ethan son of Kishi son of Abdi son of Malluch

כטוּבְנֵי מְרָרִי אֲחֵיהֶם עַל־הַשְּׂמֹאול אֵיתָן בֶּן־קִישִׁי בֶּן־עַבְדִּי בֶּן־מַלּוּךְ׃

30son of Hashabiah son of Amatzya son of Chilkiyahu

לבֶּן־חֲשַׁבְיָה בֶן־אֲמַצְיָה בֶּן־חִלְקִיָּה׃

31son of Amzi son of Bani son of Shemer

לאבֶּן־אַמְצִי בֶן־בָּנִי בֶּן־שָׁמֶר׃

32son of Mahli son of Mushi son of Merari son of Levi;

לבבֶּן־מַחְלִי בֶּן־מוּשִׁי בֶּן־מְרָרִי בֶּן־לֵוִי׃

33and their kinsmen the Leviim were appointed for all the service of the Mishkan of the House of Hashem.

לגוַאֲחֵיהֶם הַלְוִיִּם נְתוּנִים לְכָל־עֲבוֹדַת מִשְׁכַּן בֵּית הָאֱלֹהִים׃

34But Aharon and his sons made offerings upon the mizbayach of burnt offering and upon the mizbayach of incense, performing all the tasks of the most holy place, to make atonement for Yisrael, according to all that Moshe the servant of Hashem had commanded.

לדוְאַהֲרֹן וּבָנָיו מַקְטִירִים עַל־מִזְבַּח הָעוֹלָה וְעַל־מִזְבַּח הַקְּטֹרֶת לְכֹל מְלֶאכֶת קֹדֶשׁ הַקֳּדָשִׁים וּלְכַפֵּר עַל־יִשְׂרָאֵל כְּכֹל אֲשֶׁר צִוָּה מֹשֶׁה עֶבֶד הָאֱלֹהִים׃

35These are the sons of Aharon: his son Elazar, his son Pinchas, his son Abishua,

להוְאֵלֶּה בְּנֵי אַהֲרֹן אֶלְעָזָר בְּנוֹ פִּינְחָס בְּנוֹ אֲבִישׁוּעַ בְּנוֹ׃

36his son Bukki, his son Uzzi, his son Zerahiah,

לובֻּקִּי בְנוֹ עֻזִּי בְנוֹ זְרַחְיָה בְנוֹ׃

37his son Meraioth, his son Amariah, his son Achituv,

לזמְרָיוֹת בְּנוֹ אֲמַרְיָה בְנוֹ אֲחִיטוּב בְּנוֹ׃

38his son Tzadok, his son Ahimaaz.

לחצָדוֹק בְּנוֹ אֲחִימַעַץ בְּנוֹ׃

39These are their dwelling-places according to their settlements within their borders: to the sons of Aharon of the families of Kohathites, for theirs was the [first] lot;

לטוְאֵלֶּה מוֹשְׁבוֹתָם לְטִירוֹתָם בִּגְבוּלָם לִבְנֵי אַהֲרֹן לְמִשְׁפַּחַת הַקְּהָתִי כִּי לָהֶם הָיָה הַגּוֹרָל׃

40they gave them Chevron in the land of Yehuda and its surrounding pasturelands,

מוַיִּתְּנוּ לָהֶם אֶת־חֶבְרוֹן בְּאֶרֶץ יְהוּדָה וְאֶת־מִגְרָשֶׁיהָ סְבִיבֹתֶיהָ׃

41but the fields of the city and its villages they gave to Kalev son of Jephunneh.

מאוְאֶת־שְׂדֵה הָעִיר וְאֶת־חֲצֵרֶיהָ נָתְנוּ לְכָלֵב בֶּן־יְפֻנֶּה׃

42To the sons of Aharon they gave the cities of refuge: Chevron and Libnah with its pasturelands, Jattir and Eshtemoa with its pasturelands,

מבוְלִבְנֵי אַהֲרֹן נָתְנוּ אֶת־עָרֵי הַמִּקְלָט אֶת־חֶבְרוֹן וְאֶת־לִבְנָה וְאֶת־מִגְרָשֶׁיהָ וְאֶת־יַתִּר וְאֶת־אֶשְׁתְּמֹעַ וְאֶת־מִגְרָשֶׁיהָ׃

43Hilen with its pasturelands, Debir with its pasturelands,

מגוְאֶת־חִילֵז וְאֶת־מִגְרָשֶׁיהָ אֶת־דְּבִיר וְאֶת־מִגְרָשֶׁיהָ׃

44Ashan with its pasturelands, and Beit Shemesh with its pasturelands.

מדוְאֶת־עָשָׁן וְאֶת־מִגְרָשֶׁיהָ וְאֶת־בֵּית שֶׁמֶשׁ וְאֶת־מִגְרָשֶׁיהָ׃

45From the tribe of Binyamin, Geba with its pasturelands, Alemeth with its pasturelands, and Anatot with its pasturelands. All their cities throughout their families were thirteen.

מהוּמִמַּטֵּה בִנְיָמִן אֶת־גֶּבַע וְאֶת־מִגְרָשֶׁיהָ וְאֶת־עָלֶמֶת וְאֶת־מִגְרָשֶׁיהָ וְאֶת־עֲנָתוֹת וְאֶת־מִגְרָשֶׁיהָ כָּל־עָרֵיהֶם שְׁלֹשׁ־עֶשְׂרֵה עִיר בְּמִשְׁפְּחוֹתֵיהֶם׃

46To the remaining Kohathites were given by lot out of the family of the tribe, out of the half-tribe, the half of Menashe, ten cities.

מווְלִבְנֵי קְהָת הַנּוֹתָרִים מִמִּשְׁפַּחַת הַמַּטֶּה מִמַּחֲצִית מַטֵּה חֲצִי מְנַשֶּׁה בַּגּוֹרָל עָרִים עָשֶׂר׃

47To the Gershomites according to their families were allotted thirteen cities out of the tribes of Yissachar, Asher, Naftali, and Menashe in Bashan.

מזוְלִבְנֵי גֵרְשׁוֹם לְמִשְׁפְּחוֹתָם מִמַּטֵּה יִשָׂשכָר וּמִמַּטֵּה אָשֵׁר וּמִמַּטֵּה נַפְתָּלִי וּמִמַּטֵּה מְנַשֶּׁה בַּבָּשָׁן עָרִים שְׁלֹשׁ עֶשְׂרֵה׃

48To the Merarites according to their families were allotted twelve cities out of the tribes of Reuven, Gad, and Zevulun.

מחלִבְנֵי מְרָרִי לְמִשְׁפְּחוֹתָם מִמַּטֵּה רְאוּבֵן וּמִמַּטֵּה־גָד וּמִמַּטֵּה זְבוּלֻן בַּגּוֹרָל עָרִים שְׁתֵּים עֶשְׂרֵה׃

49So the people of Yisrael gave the Leviim the cities with their pasturelands.

מטוַיִּתְּנוּ בְנֵי־יִשְׂרָאֵל לַלְוִיִּם אֶת־הֶעָרִים וְאֶת־מִגְרְשֵׁיהֶם׃

50They gave them by lot out of the tribe of the Judahites these cities that are mentioned by name, and out of the tribe of the Simeon, and out of the tribe of the Benjaminites.

נוַיִּתְּנוּ בַגּוֹרָל מִמַּטֵּה בְנֵי־יְהוּדָה וּמִמַּטֵּה בְנֵי־שִׁמְעוֹן וּמִמַּטֵּה בְּנֵי בִנְיָמִן אֵת הֶעָרִים הָאֵלֶּה אֲשֶׁר־יִקְרְאוּ אֶתְהֶם בְּשֵׁמוֹת׃

51And some of the families of the sons of Kehat had cities of their territory out of the tribe of Efraim.

נאוּמִמִּשְׁפְּחוֹת בְּנֵי קְהָת וַיְהִי עָרֵי גְבוּלָם מִמַּטֵּה אֶפְרָיִם׃

52They gave them the cities of refuge: Shechem with its pasturelands in the hill country of Efraim, Gezer with its pasturelands,

נבוַיִּתְּנוּ לָהֶם אֶת־עָרֵי הַמִּקְלָט אֶת־שְׁכֶם וְאֶת־מִגְרָשֶׁיהָ בְּהַר אֶפְרָיִם וְאֶת־גֶּזֶר וְאֶת־מִגְרָשֶׁיהָ׃

53Jokmeam with its pasturelands, Beth-horon with its pasturelands,

נגוְאֶת־יָקְמְעָם וְאֶת־מִגְרָשֶׁיהָ וְאֶת־בֵּית חוֹרוֹן וְאֶת־מִגְרָשֶׁיהָ׃

54Aijalon with its pasturelands, Gath-rimmon with its pasturelands;

נדוְאֶת־אַיָּלוֹן וְאֶת־מִגְרָשֶׁיהָ וְאֶת־גַּת־רִמּוֹן וְאֶת־מִגְרָשֶׁיהָ׃

55and out of the half-tribe of Menashe: Aner with its pasturelands, and Bileam with its pasturelands, for the rest of the families of the Kohathites.

נהוּמִמַּחֲצִית מַטֵּה מְנַשֶּׁה אֶת־עָנֵר וְאֶת־מִגְרָשֶׁיהָ וְאֶת־בִּלְעָם וְאֶת־מִגְרָשֶׁיהָ לְמִשְׁפַּחַת לִבְנֵי־קְהָת הַנּוֹתָרִים׃

56To the Gershomites; out of the half-tribe of Menashe: Golan in Bashan with its pasturelands and Ashtaroth with its pasturelands;

נולִבְנֵי גֵּרְשׁוֹם מִמִּשְׁפַּחַת חֲצִי מַטֵּה מְנַשֶּׁה אֶת־גּוֹלָן בַּבָּשָׁן וְאֶת־מִגְרָשֶׁיהָ וְאֶת־עַשְׁתָּרוֹת וְאֶת־מִגְרָשֶׁיהָ׃

57and out of the tribe of Yissachar: Kedesh with its pasturelands, Dobrath with its pasturelands,

נזוּמִמַּטֵּה יִשָׂשכָר אֶת־קֶדֶשׁ וְאֶת־מִגְרָשֶׁיהָ אֶת־דָּבְרַת וְאֶת־מִגְרָשֶׁיהָ׃

58Ramoth with its pasturelands, and Anem with its pasturelands;

נחוְאֶת־רָאמוֹת וְאֶת־מִגְרָשֶׁיהָ וְאֶת־עָנֵם וְאֶת־מִגְרָשֶׁיהָ׃

59out of the tribe of Asher: Mashal with its pasturelands, Avdon with its pasturelands,

נטוּמִמַּטֵּה אָשֵׁר אֶת־מָשָׁל וְאֶת־מִגְרָשֶׁיהָ וְאֶת־עַבְדּוֹן וְאֶת־מִגְרָשֶׁיהָ׃

60Hukok with its pasturelands, and Rehob with its pasturelands;

סוְאֶת־חוּקֹק וְאֶת־מִגְרָשֶׁיהָ וְאֶת־רְחֹב וְאֶת־מִגְרָשֶׁיהָ׃

61and out of the tribe of Naftali: Kedesh in Galilee with its pasturelands; Hammon with its pasturelands, and Kiriathaim with its pasturelands.

סאוּמִמַּטֵּה נַפְתָּלִי אֶת־קֶדֶשׁ בַּגָּלִיל וְאֶת־מִגְרָשֶׁיהָ וְאֶת־חַמּוֹן וְאֶת־מִגְרָשֶׁיהָ וְאֶת־קִרְיָתַיִם וְאֶת־מִגְרָשֶׁיהָ׃

62To the rest of the Merarites, out of the tribe of Zevulun: Rimmono with its pasturelands, Tavor with its pasturelands;

סבלִבְנֵי מְרָרִי הַנּוֹתָרִים מִמַּטֵּה זְבוּלֻן אֶת־רִמּוֹנוֹ וְאֶת־מִגְרָשֶׁיהָ אֶת־תָּבוֹר וְאֶת־מִגְרָשֶׁיהָ׃

63and beyond the Yarden at Yericho, on the east side of the Yarden, out of the tribe of Reuven: Bezer in the wilderness with its pasturelands, Jahaz with its pasturelands,

סגוּמֵעֵבֶר לְיַרְדֵּן יְרֵחוֹ לְמִזְרַח הַיַּרְדֵּן מִמַּטֵּה רְאוּבֵן אֶת־בֶּצֶר בַּמִּדְבָּר וְאֶת־מִגְרָשֶׁיהָ וְאֶת־יַהְצָה וְאֶת־מִגְרָשֶׁיהָ׃

64Kedemoth with its pasturelands, and Mephaath with its pasture lands;

סדוְאֶת־קְדֵמוֹת וְאֶת־מִגְרָשֶׁיהָ וְאֶת־מֵיפַעַת וְאֶת־מִגְרָשֶׁיהָ׃

65and out of the tribe of Gad: Ramoth in Gilad with its pasturelands, Mahanaim with its pasturelands,

סהוּמִמַּטֵּה־גָד אֶת־רָאמוֹת בַּגִּלְעָד וְאֶת־מִגְרָשֶׁיהָ וְאֶת־מַחֲנַיִם וְאֶת־מִגְרָשֶׁיהָ׃

66Heshbon with its pasturelands, and Jazer with its pasturelands.

סווְאֶת־חֶשְׁבּוֹן וְאֶת־מִגְרָשֶׁיהָ וְאֶת־יַעְזֵיר וְאֶת־מִגְרָשֶׁיהָ׃
