1The word of Hashem came to me:
vai-HI d'-var a-do-NAI e-LAI lay-MOR

6:2 O mortal
Throughout the book of Yechezkel, God consistently refers to Yechezkel as ben adam (בן אדם), meaning ‘son of man’ or ‘mortal.’ Adam (אדם) is the Hebrew word for ‘man.’ According to Rabbi Matityahu Glazerson, this word is reflective of the three partners who participate in the creation of a human being: the father, the mother and the Holy One, blessed is He. The letter alef (א), whose numerical value is one, represents, the Holy One who provides the spiritual component, the soul. The remaining two letters, dalet (ד) and mem (מ), spell dam (דם), meaning ‘blood,’ which symbolizes the physical aspect contributed by the father and mother.
3and say: O mountains of Yisrael, hear the word of Hashem. Thus said Hashem to the mountains and the hills, to the streams and the valleys: See, I will bring a sword against you and destroy your shrines.
