1Hashem spoke to Moshe:
2See, I have singled out by name Betzalel son of Uri son of Chur, of the tribe of Yehuda.
3I have endowed him with a divine spirit of skill, ability, and knowledge in every kind of craft;
4to make designs for work in gold, silver, and copper,
5to cut stones for setting and to carve wood—to work in every kind of craft.
6Moreover, I have assigned to him Oholiav son of Achisamach, of the tribe of Dan; and I have also granted skill to all who are skillful, that they may make everything that I have commanded you:
7the Tent of Meeting, the Aron HaBrit and the cover upon it, and all the furnishings of the Tent;
8the table and its utensils, the pure menorah and all its fittings, and the mizbayach of incense;
9the mizbayach of burnt offering and all its utensils, and the laver and its stand;
10the service vestments, the sacral vestments of Aharon the Kohen and the vestments of his sons, for their service as Kohanim;
11as well as the anointing oil and the aromatic incense for the sanctuary. Just as I have commanded you, they shall do.
12And Hashem said to Moshe:
13Speak to B'nei Yisrael and say: Nevertheless, you must keep My Shabbatot, for this is a sign between Me and you throughout the ages, that you may know that I Hashem have consecrated you.
14You shall keep the Shabbat, for it is holy for you. He who profanes it shall be put to death: whoever does work on it, that person shall be cut off from among his kin.
15Six days may work be done, but on the seventh day there shall be a Shabbat of complete rest, holy to Hashem; whoever does work on the Shabbat day shall be put to death.
16B'nei Yisrael shall keep the Shabbat, observing the Shabbat throughout the ages as a covenant for all time:
17it shall be a sign for all time between Me and the people of Yisrael. For in six days Hashem made heaven and earth, and on the seventh day He ceased from work and was refreshed.
bay-NEE u-VAYN b'-NAY yis-ra-AYL OT HEE l'-o-LAM kee SHAY-shet ya-MEEM a-SAH a-do-NAI et ha-sha-MA-yim v'-ET ha-A-retz u-va-YOM ha-sh'-vee-EE sha-VAT va-yi-na-FASH
31:17 It shall be a sign for all time between Me and the people of Yisrael

A Yemenite family around the Shabbat table, Israel 1947
The Shabbat (שבת), ‘Sabbath,’ is designated as a sign between Hashem and the Children of Israel that Hashem created the world, and resting from work on Shabbat is the sign that the Jewish Nation recognizes God as the Creator. Each week, Jews reaffirm their submission to Hashem by sanctifying the Shabbat, and they recite this verse during the Shabbat prayers. Though the observance of Shabbat was commanded to the Children of Israel, the message of Shabbat, that God created the universe and everything in it, is a universal one.
18When He finished speaking with him on Har Sinai, He gave Moshe the two tablets of the Pact, stone tablets inscribed with the finger of Hashem.
