Eglon was the King of Moab. He brought the Moabites, Ammonites, and Amalekites together to attack Israel, and then ruled over Israel for 18 years. The People of Israel eventually fought back under the leadership of judge Ehud ben Gera. He gained access to Eglon on the premise of bringing a tribute. While in Eglon’s private chamber, Ehud stuck a dagger into Eglon’s fat belly, killing him. Eglon is credited for standing up when Ehud mentioned God’s name.
