Boaz allowed Ruth to glean barley from his fields, and even instructed his employees to provide Ruth with everything she needed (Ruth 2). He then fulfilled his obligation to marry Ruth according to laws of yibum (levirate marriage). Boaz fathered a son named Obed with Ruth. Obed became the grandfather of King David (Ruth 4).
