Rabbi Meir Leibush Weiser

(1809-1879) – Known by his acronym, Malbim (Meir Leibush ben Yehiel Michel), he lived in the Russian empire where he was a Rabbi, master of Hebrew grammar and a Bible commentator. He is known for his principle that every word in the Torah carries its own meaning, even distinct from its synonyms.
