Listen to this chapter in Hebrew:

1  The burden of the word of Hashem concerning Yisrael. The saying of Hashem who stretched forth the heavens and laid the foundation of the earth and formed the spirit of man within him:

2  Behold I will make Yerushalayim a cup of staggering unto all the peoples round about and upon Yehudah also shall it fall to be in the siege against Yerushalayim.

3  And it shall come to pass in that day that I will make Yerushalayim a stone of burden for all the peoples; all that burden themselves with it shall be sore wounded; and all the nations of the earth shall be gathered together against it.

v’-ha-YAH va-YOM ha-HU a-SEEM et y’-ru-sha-LA-yim E-ven ma-a-ma-SAH l’-KHOL ha-a-MEEM kol o-m’-SE-ha sa-ROT yi-sa-RAY-tu v’-ne-es-FU a-LE-ha kol go-YAY ha-A-retz

12:3  I will make Jerusalem a stone of burden for all the peoples

Zechariah prophesies about a future attack against Judah by the nations of the world. In that attack, the nations will besiege Jerusalem, Israel’s capital, only to be miraculously defeated by Judah. God states that Jerusalem will become “a stone of burden,” and “all that burden themselves with it shall be sore wounded.” In ancient times, the stone of burden was a heavy rock that lay in a field. Farmers who wished to plough the field had to remove the rock with great effort, often cutting themselves futilely. On one level, this means that the nations of the world that try to remove Judah and Jerusalem will fail. Spiritually, Jerusalem and Israel symbolize God and His word. Taking on Jerusalem forces the nations to contend with goodness and blocks them from going off on their own path.

4  In that day saith Hashem I will smite every horse with bewilderment and his rider with madness; and I will open Mine eyes upon the house of Yehudah and will smite every horse of the peoples with blindness.

5  And the chiefs of Yehudah shall say in their heart: ‘The inhabitants of Yerushalayim are my strength through Hashem of hosts their God.’

6  In that day will I make the chiefs of Yehudah like a pan of fire among the wood and like a torch of fire among sheaves; and they shall devour all the peoples round about on the right hand and on the left; and Yerushalayim shall be inhabited again in her own place even in Yerushalayim.

7  Hashem also shall save the tents of Yehudah first that the glory of the house of David and the glory of the inhabitants of Yerushalayim be not magnified above Yehudah.

8  In that day shall Hashem defend the inhabitants of Yerushalayim; and he that stumbleth among them at that day shall be as David; and the house of David shall be as a godlike being as the angel of Hashem before them.

9  And it shall come to pass in that day that I will seek to destroy all the nations that come against Yerushalayim.

10  And I will pour upon the house of David and upon the inhabitants of Yerushalayim the spirit of grace and of supplication; and they shall look unto Me because they have thrust him through; and they shall mourn for him as one mourneth for his only son and shall be in bitterness for him as one that is in bitterness for his first-born.

11  In that day shall there be a great mourning in Yerushalayim as the mourning of Hadadrimmon in the valley of Megiddon.

12  And the land shall mourn every family apart: the family of the house of David apart and their wives apart; the family of the house of Natan apart and their wives apart;

13  The family of the house of Levi apart and their wives apart; the family of the Shimeites apart and their wives apart;

14  All the families that remain every family apart and their wives apart.

  • Zechariah 12:10 And I will pour upon the house of David and upon the inhabitants of Yerushalayim the spirit of grace and of supplication; and they shall look unto Me because they have thrust him through; and they shall mourn for him as one mourneth for his only son and shall be in bitterness for him as one that is in bitterness for his first-born.

    When was God thrust through?
    and they shall look unto Me because they have thrust him through;

  • Yeshua (Jesus) how can he be denied. This passage is talking about him or is it going to be hiden as something else. Look at the book of beginnings were Hashim said let US make man in our image. Did he talked to himself?
