15 But the levitical Kohanim descended from Tzadok, who maintained the service of My Sanctuary when the people of Yisrael went astray from Me—they shall approach Me to minister to Me; they shall stand before Me to offer Me fat and blood—declares Hashem.

44:15 Descended from Tzadok
For their loyalty to Hashem, Yechezkel nominates the members of the house of Tzadok to serve as teachers (verse 23) and judges (verse 24), and to serve in the Beit Hamikdash. Given their enhanced positions of power, it is not surprising that the house of Tzadok will face the burden of greater restrictions, as described in the rest of the chapter. Those who lead God’s people in Eretz Yisrael must be prepared to make sacrifices others won’t make, in order to maintain their character and purity.
