16 These were appointed by David to be in charge of song in the House of Hashem, from the time the Aron came to rest.

טז וְאֵלֶּה אֲשֶׁר הֶעֱמִיד דָּוִיד עַל־יְדֵי־שִׁיר בֵּית יְהֹוָה מִמְּנוֹחַ הָאָרוֹן׃
6:16 From the time the Aron came to rest
King David gives the Leviim their roles as singers after he brought the Aron HaBrit to rest in its eternal home, the holy city of Yerushalayim. Just as one does not assign chores in a temporary residence, it was not meaningful to set permanent tasks surrounding the Ark of the Covenant until it had been brought to its proper place. Only in Yerushalayim, the resting place of Hashem’s presence in the world and the source of His continuous revelation, could the Aron be deemed to have reached its permanent home.
