6:16   From the time the Aron came to rest

King David gives the Leviim their roles as singers after he brought the Aron HaBrit to rest in its eternal home, the holy city of Yerushalayim. Just as one does not assign chores in a temporary residence, it was not meaningful to set permanent tasks surrounding the Ark of the Covenant until it had been brought to its proper place. Only in Yerushalayim, the resting place of Hashem’s presence in the world and the source of His continuous revelation, could the Aron be deemed to have reached its permanent home.

  • We do the same don't we, we're given or maybe left something special and sometimes we need a special place to show it, a special place where it is safe.

I was talking with a friend about the Ark recently, and how that when it was in the home of Obed he and his household was so blessed. I have always thought that the Ark with the two cherubim with their wings overshadowing the Ark is indeed the Mercy Seat'?
