Listen to this chapter in Hebrew:

1  They brought in the Aron of Hashem and set it up inside the tent that David had pitched for it, and they sacrificed burnt offerings and offerings of well-being before Hashem.

2  When David finished sacrificing the burnt offerings and the offerings of well-being, he blessed the people in the name of Hashem.

3  And he distributed to every person in Yisrael—man and woman alike—to each a loaf of bread, a cake made in a pan, and a raisin cake.

4  He appointed Leviim to minister before the Aron of Hashem, to invoke, to praise, and to extol God of Yisrael:

5  Asaf the chief, Zecharya second in rank, Jeiel, Shemiramoth, Yechiel, Mattithiah, Eliav, Benaiah, Oved Edom, and Jeiel, with harps and lyres, and Asaf sounding the cymbals,

6  and Benaiah and Yachaziel the Kohanim, with trumpets, regularly before the Aron Brit Hashem.

7  Then, on that day, David first commissioned Asaf and his kinsmen to give praise to Hashem:

8  “Praise Hashem; call on His name; proclaim His deeds among the peoples.

9  Sing praises unto Him; speak of all His wondrous acts.

10  Exult in His holy name; let all who seek Hashem rejoice.

11  Turn to Hashem, to His might; seek His presence constantly.

12  Remember the wonders He has done; His portents and the judgments He has pronounced,

13  O offspring of Yisrael, His servant, O descendants of Yaakov, His chosen ones.

14  He is Hashem our God; His judgments are throughout the earth.

15  Be ever mindful of His covenant, the promise He gave for a thousand generations,

16  that He made with Avraham, swore to Yitzchak,

17  and confirmed in a decree for Yaakov, for Yisrael, as an eternal covenant,

21  He allowed no one to oppress them; He reproved kings on their account,

22  ‘Do not touch My anointed ones; do not harm My Neviim.’

23  “Sing to Hashem, all the earth. proclaim His victory day after day.

25  For Hashem is great and much acclaimed, He is held in awe by all divine beings.

26  All the gods of the peoples are mere idols, but Hashem made the heavens.

27  Glory and majesty are before Him; strength and joy are in His place.

28  “Ascribe to Hashem, O families of the peoples, ascribe to Hashem glory and strength.

29  Ascribe to Hashem the glory of His name, bring tribute and enter before Him, bow down to Hashem majestic in holiness.

30  Tremble in His presence, all the earth! The world stands firm; it cannot be shaken.

33  then shall all the trees of the forest shout for joy at the presence of Hashem, for He is coming to rule the earth.

34  Praise Hashem for He is good; His steadfast love is eternal.

35  Declare: Deliver us, O Hashem, our deliverer, and gather us and save us from the nations, to acclaim Your holy name, to glory in Your praise.

36  Blessed is Hashem, God of Yisrael, from eternity to eternity.” And all the people said “Amen” and “Praise Hashem.”

37  He left Asaf and his kinsmen there before the Aron Brit Hashem to minister before the Aron regularly as each day required,

16:42 Instruments for the songs of Hashem

This verse describes how when David brought the Aron to Yerushalayim, he offered prayers of thanksgiving to God, accompanied by various musical instruments. The trumpets and cymbals mentioned in this verse, along with the lyres and harps mentioned in Sefer Divrei Hayamim I 15:16, were also used during worship in the Beit Hamikdash. The music of the Levitical choir and orchestra was an integral part of the divine service of the Holy Temple every day of the year, and was the sweetest music on earth, as it was the Levitical expression of the music of heaven. In today’s Jerusalem, musicologists and expert craftsman work closely with the scholars at the Temple Institute to recreate the “musical instruments of Hashem” to be used when the Third Temple will be built.Comment

43  Then all the people went every one to his home, and David returned to greet his household.
