“Albert Pujols makes no secret of his faith being central to his life and mission in this world,” said Rabbi Tuly Weisz, editor of The Israel Bible. “We pray that the addition of The Israel Bible to his collection will enhance his understanding of the connection between the Land, the People and the God of Israel.”
Albert Pujols is a Dominican American, highly decorated, professional baseball player. He plays first base for the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim of Major League Baseball (MLB), was winner of three National League Most Valuable Player awards and nine-time Major League Baseball All-Star. He also created THE PUJOLS FAMILY FOUNDATION, a national not-for-profit agency that exists to honor God and strengthen families through their work, deeds and examples, particularly with regard to helping those with Down syndrome and improving the lives of the impoverished in the Dominican Republic.
Rabbi Ephraim Sofer, champion of The Israel Bible and big Pujols fan, met with the star athlete and his wife at the Prime Minister of Israel’s office to gift them with their Bible. “I was blessed to present Albert Pujols and Diedre with a copy of The Israel Bible upon their visit to the Holy Land,” Sofer said. “Spreading the truth of the centrality of Israel in the Bible has never been more important.”
Sofer reported that the Pujols’ were “thrilled to receive their copy of The Israel Bible”.
THE PUJOLS FAMILY FOUNDATION website makes clear that their “mission is to live and share our commitment to faith, family and others”. Quoting from Proverbs 19:17, “Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the LORD, and he will reward them for what they have done.”
Additionally, Pujols publicly credits God with his ability to succeed in the game of baseball. As he states, “Baseball is not the end; baseball is the means by which my wife, Dee Dee, and I glorify God…It is because our faith is at the heart of everything we are and everything we do.”
